The new equipement funded by ERC APATE

In June 2024, our lab received a new 5F5M mass spectrometer from Nu Instruments (AMETEK), which we ordered at the beginning of the project. This advanced equipment, featuring 5 electron multipliers and 5 Faraday cups, is dedicated to the analysis of noble gases, with a particular focus on neon. It will support the PhD research of Romain Sauvalle and the postdoctoral work of Carolina Cardoso. Additionally, we will use this mass spectrometer to measure all noble gases (He, Ar, Kr, Xe) in oceanic basalts.

Two cold traps were also acquired and installed on the preparation line.
