The Apate Project, supported through an Advanced Grant from the European Research Council (ERC) in 2022, delves into the origins and evolutionary journey of Earth’s volatile elements, emphasizing the light noble gases (helium, neon, argon) and hydrogen. This initiative explores two primary hypotheses concerning the solar genesis of these gases: firstly, the accretion of gas directly from the protoplanetary disk, and secondly, the enrichment in solar gases of pre-planetary dust via solar wind irradiation.
